English Society hosts transgender poet

In December, the Durham University English Society hosted Jay Hulme, a transgender performance poet from Leicester, for a poetry open mic.

Jay signed copies of his two collections of poems: “The Prospect of Wings” (2015) and “City Boys Should Not Feed Horses” (2016).

In 2015, Jay won SLAMbassadors, the UK's biggest youth slam, performed at the Southbank Centre in London, and was a finalist at the Roundhouse Slam this past year.

You can watch Jay perform “I am a Man,” which he also performed in Durham.
